Pastoral Chatter

                                                              January/february 2012

What a busy start to the year it is. As a Church it is important that we put first things first. Jesus reminds us that the most important thing is to ”Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.” Mark12:30

As 2012 unfolds, let us see what God has in store for each of us~ how He can use us ~ just ordinary people to make something extraordinary and to give Him the glory by using the special gifts from Him to us.

We need to get our relationship right with God first. A relationship that Jesus tells is so intimate that we can call God ‘Abba’ which translates as ‘Daddy’. God wants a personal relationship with you, and Jesus tells us that this is the most important thing of all. This is both as individuals and as a Church. Let me encourage you to spend time daily reading your bible and praying.

At our Worship Centre each Thursday at 8.00 am, people are gathered together to pray. Please join us. Also pray by yourself at other times. Prayer is the key to this Church moving ahead and growing, Prayer is the key to each of us developing and growing to be the people God made us to be. Prayer is not about telling God what we want – rather it is about trying to connect to what God wants. Prayer is about placing ourselves in right relationship with God, acknowledging His Sovereignty and our place within His Kingdom. Everyone is encouraged to attend our twelve hour prayer vigil here on 4 February, commencing at 7.00 am.

May I encourage the ladies to prayerfully consider attending our Ladies Retreat at Camp Tamborine which runs from Friday 24 ‘til Sunday 26 February. It will be a week-end of enriched blessings to be remembered. Please see Rhonda Oliver for further details.

Giving Thanks

Do we take for granted day after day,

The things we enjoy along life’s way-

Like health, strength, friendship and love

Or do we keep looking down instead of above?

Do we give thanks that we can see and hear

And be grateful for those that we hold dear?

Do we thank God for the rain and sun?

Are we glad to have friends and for kindness done?

Let us take stock on the way we live,

And thank God each day for the blessings He gives.
